Island Cafe

Yet another great thing to do on the Toronto Islands is to visit the Island Cafe.   It is located on Ward’s Island, just a stone’s throw from the Ferry Dock.  The cafe is family-owned and run by people who have lived on the Island for their entire lives.

Island Cafe Ice Cream and Bar

At the cafe, you have your choice of many different food and beverage options.  If you are in the mood for just a snack and drink, you can choose from things like nachos to chips and salsa to Mexican street corn to freshly baked goodies.  If you want something a little more refreshing on those hot summer afternoons, they also have an ice cream bar!

If you want to hang out and chat with locals / visitors, the bar is the spot!  You can have your choice of different wines or beers, with both local and international choices available.

For those wishing to have a sit down mean, the licensed patio is an amazing location with a varied menu that caters to all.  There are also vegan and vegetarian options available.

Island Cafe Front Right

The great thing about the Island Cafe is that they source all of their ingredients locally.  They get their fruit and vegetables from local farmer’s markets and buy their meet from a shop in Kensington Market which gets it meat from small local farmers who raised their animals naturally.  Another attraction of the Cafe is that they also have a few gardens right on the property where they grow some of their own greens and vegetables.

If all of this isn’t enough, they also offer specials at different times during the week – things like 2 for 1 mojitos, $5 pints and half-price bottles of wine!

Island Cafe Right Side

In the Spring, they are open until 8 or 9, and during the summer, they are open until either 9 or 10, depending on the day.
